In 2025, employees are increasingly concerned with balancing their work and personal lives, and the office remains a central element in this regard. For more than half of them (55%), the ideal office should be “zen”, according to a survey conducted among 1,175 respondents nationwide by Genesis Property, one of the most important office building owners in Romania. At the same time, 23% of respondents prefer a highly digitized and tech-integrated office that simplifies their work, while 15% consider the ideal work model to be a “nomadic” office that allows them to work from anywhere.
Moreover, 38% want an office designed like a “food truck” concept, offering flexible, diverse, and easily customizable work options based on their needs, while 26% would prefer an “all you can eat” concept, meaning unlimited resources and benefits at the office. Nearly 20% lean towards a “fine dining” office, featuring premium experiences and top-tier facilities, while 17% prefer standard, quick, and efficient “fast food”-style solutions, even if they may not always be the healthiest choice for their personal and professional balance.
People’s work styles have evolved, placing increasing emphasis on wellbeing and flexibility, and these needs are increasingly reflected in their expectations from both their office and employer. The importance of the office in 2025 is further highlighted by the significant percentage (nearly 67%) of employees who state that office design and facilities greatly or very greatly influence their productivity and job satisfaction. At the same time, over 36% of employees would like more benefits provided by their employer, almost 30% want more ergonomic and personalized workspaces, and more than a quarter are looking for dedicated relaxation areas.
“The office is no longer just a workspace; it has become a dynamic ecosystem where design, amenities, and, most importantly, experiences and community play a crucial role. The way we work continues to evolve, and people seek more than just a place to perform their tasks—they want an environment that inspires them, connects them, and supports their growth. That’s why we continuously invest in staying at the forefront of these changes, anticipating not only the needs of the present but also those of the future. And YUNITY Park is a clear expression of our ability to embrace and shape the future”, said Elena Panait, Head of Leasing & ComYunitY.

When it comes to expectations from their employer, over 30% of employees want more substantial non-salary benefits, while nearly 16% are looking for better workplace facilities. Regarding the ideal work schedule in 2025, almost 34% prefer working entirely from the office, nearly 25% would like to spend 3-4 days per week at the office, while less than 24% favor a fully remote model.
Genesis Property aims to complete the final phase of YUNITY Park in the long term—a visionary campus created by Liviu Tudor that redefines the office experience through a mix of facilities, experiences, and communities. Designed to transform both the way employees work and their lifestyle, the campus features an open-air amphitheater with 1,500 seats, 2 kilometers of pedestrian walkways, cascading water mirrors, an urban forest, and creative spaces for meetings. The first two phases, completed in 2023, received an investment of over €30 million. The third phase, the Innovation Center, is set to be inaugurated this year following a €20 million investment.
The survey was conducted by Genesis Property to analyze employees’ needs and expectations for 2025. It was carried out nationwide between January and February 2025 via the iVox platform, with a total sample of 1,175 internet users from Romania. Approximately 48% of participants are female, and nearly 57% have a net income exceeding 5,000 lei.
